Professional biography
Shahira Amin is a Licensed Master Social Worker. She earned a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Stony Brook University, where she also completed a Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Public Health and a double major in Psychology.
Shahira has experience supporting people navigating anxiety, depression, substance use disorders, psychosis, and suicidal ideation. She has worked in hospitals, alternative education settings, crisis lines, emergency homeless shelters, and community- and religious-based settings. She also has experience leading youth groups and co-facilitating social skills and anger management groups for ages 5–18.
Using motivational interviewing, cognitive-behavioral therapy, trauma-informed care, and a strengths-based approach, Shahira aims to create a welcoming, empathetic space where individuals can feel heard and empowered as they cultivate their natural resilience.
